Compounding is the preparation of custom medication to fit the unique situations and needs of patients that cannot be met by the current mass-produced medications. This can be done by providing medications to a patient in different forms, that best fits their needs. For example, a patient who has difficulty ingesting a tablet, a liquid for can be formulated and produced to suit their needs. The Pharmacy on Hiland is considered a non-sterile compounding pharmacy, which means we can provide ointments, creams, liquids, or capsules. Non-sterile compounding is defined as the process of combining, admixing, diluting, pooling, reconstituting other than as provided in the manufacturer’s labeling.
Compounding pharmacies use pure, pharmaceutical-grade ingredients when they mix a compound drug. All pharmacies that perform compounding must be registered with the FDA.

We take quality assurance very seriously. Staff members are trained and certified by the compounding pharmacist. There are 3 checkpoints for each and every Rx. We send samples to independent labs to ensure potency of medication. We are members of PCCA and follow their guidelines which are set by a nationally recognized team of scientists.
How long does it take to get a compound prescription?
Compounding is a specialty practice and it will require a little more time to prepare compared to traditional prescriptions. It also differs from prescription to prescription. Our staff will let you know the process of picking up your compounded medication and when you can expect it to be ready.
How is compounding different from pharmaceutical manufacturing?
Compounding is different because it can be customized to the patient. We believe not one size fits all. Compounding can customize dosage amounts, ingredients in the case of allergies, and delivery method, even flavors can be added. This customizes it directly for the patient, making it easier to take the medication.
How do I get a compound medication?

Why would I need a compounded medication?
There are many reasons someone would find compounded medications a better option from traditional pharmaceutical manufacturing such as:
